• Course outline: Processes, threads, concurrency; Synchronization mechanisms, resource management and sharing; Objects and concurrency; Design, architecture and testing of concurrent systems. The mission of this course is to give students an understanding of the basic techniques of concurrent system design and to introduce students to the appropriate modelling and analysis techniques.

Announcements:

• Mar 15: Midterm 2 has been posted below; the solutions will be discussed in class on Monday Mar 18.
• Mar 11: As was mentioned in class today, the 2nd midterm (Thursday Mar 14) will contain 4 questions on the Python synchronization mechanisms, and one question on Petri Nets (the material coverd in class today). This will be 5 questions in total.
• Mar 11: All the Python examples are posted in the reading list.
• Mar 11: The last two quizzes have been posted below.
• Mar 4: Change in Dragan's office hours: instead of Tuesdays at 1:30pm in ITB-125, the new time is Tuesdays at 6:30pm in ITB-237 (OLE Lab).
• Feb 26: Posted in the Readling List the programs that were presented in class yesterday (Feb 25).
• Feb 11: Assignment 1 due on Feb 21 (a week long extension).
• Feb 7: Midterm 1 with solutions has been posted below.
• Feb 4: The two quizzes have been posted below; quiz 1 with solutions, and quiz 2 so far without solutions, so that you can work on it.
• Feb 1: Midterm 1 will take place on Thursday February 7th. It will include the material covered in the lectures up to and including the Monday lecture (February 4th). Remember also to study the material in the assigned articles.
