Part-Time Web Design Assistant

This is a part-time positon with flexible hours to work with a student’s schedule.

Responsibilities:

Assists in website development including updates and new elements
Assists in updating online store
Assists in development and maintenance of social media presence

The best candidate should have experience using WordPress for website development and experience using graphics software such as In-Design or Photoshop.  Experience using Yahoo RTML is a plus.

Candidates must have a positive attitude, good communication skills and motivation to work as a team.

Web Assistant Position Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Create, maintain and manage public and internal web pages for various administrative and academic areas. Draft web sites and provide for client, end user, and peer review. Collect and organize content for web publication. Convert content into appropriate formats such as HTML or PDF. Work with scanned or digital photography. Work with audio and video files for web deployment. Provide information, analysis, and ad hoc support or training for various University leadership, faculty, staff and students on web technology issues. Create training materials as necessary. Assist Web Services staff with other tasks as necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

Basic experience in creating, developing and maintaining web sites using HTML and CSS. We will train you to further develop these skills. Experience using Microsoft Office. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of users and support staff. Excellent critical thinking skills. High attention to detail is required. Ability to manage multiple, complex tasks and complete work to tight deadlines. Ability to learn new Internet and authoring technologies relevant for web site development. Ability to work under minimal supervision, and perform independent research to obtain solutions.

Preferred but not required:

Experience preferred in web application development using two or more of the following languages/technologies: PHP, CSS, HTML, JavaScript. Experience in creating and editing PDF files using Adobe Acrobat. Familiarity with web accessibility and usability issues. Print or publication design, or related graphic design experience preferred.
