Mt Boney in Santa Monica mountains

Professor & Chair – Computer Science at CSU Channel Islands
A hike with a friend to Boney Peak on March 29, 2019.
On October 12, Konrad Kulakowski (a professor visiting CI this term as a Kosciuszko Scholar – CS talk on October 3) and I climbed to the top of Mount Boney. Smoke haze from the fires hid the Channel Islands and the Los Padres, but beautiful hike nevertheless.
On June 12 we hiked to the top of the Boney Mountain, and we reached the Tri-Peak formation, which is one of several peaks on top of Boney. There is a nice description of this somewhat challenging hike here.
My companion was Adam Sędziwy, who also gave a talk in Computer Science at CI; it was very appropriate that from the top of the Tri-Peaks we were able to see both the CI campus, and the Channel Islands.
Views of the PCH while hiking the Ray Miller trail.
Chumash Trail which climbs to Mugu Peak, with a view of Malibu south, Santa Monica mountains with Boney Peak east, Port Hueneme Naval base north, and the wide Pacific west. About two hours of rapid climb.
