CS Advisory Board

Introduction

The CSUCI department of Computer Science, which is composed of four programs: Computer Science (CS), IT, Mechatronics and the masters program in CS (MSCS), is very proud to have recently formed an Advisory Board.

The Advisory Board consists of leaders in the industry and public service in Ventura County, and its mission is to:

  • Champion the department in the community.
  • Help with placement of our students in internships and full time positions.
  • Support the curriculum.
  • Provide access to real world problems which can then be given to our students for senior capstones, projects and masters theses.
  • Form the constituents of the department, as for example required by ABET accreditation.

CS Department mission and vision

Mission: Computer Science permeates every aspect of human endeavor, and thus it is a truly interdisciplinary field. CS is fast growing, and its graduates are in demand in our community and nation-wide. We respond to this demand by teaching our students with a “hands-on” and “problem-solving” approach, and we strive to give our students a strong grounding in the fundamental science of computing, as well as the necessary technical knowledge to succeed in the job market. As the field is fast growing, we realize that we serve our students best by being top experts in our respective research fields. Thus we aim to embody the teacher-scholar model in our academic lives.

Vision: The Computer Science Department at CI wants to become a world-class department, as well as a local hub of expertise in Computer Science, IT and Mechatronics.
